In Memory Of: Isabel Klava

It is with great sorrow that I just recently learned of Isabel's passing a month ago. Isabel and I are 2nd cousins. I did not know Isabel till later in life. We met when I was searching my family history and my mother took me to Minto to visit Isabel to get early information on the family in Warsaw, ND.
Isabel was such a wonderful person and her memory of past history was outstanding. I send Isabel a copy of the family history report I compiled with her assistance and the assistance of many others when she was at the nursing home in Grafton. I hope she enjoyed it. I don't know who has her copy now, but if they are interested in continued communication on family history I would be glad to communicate as I am seeking additional information on the family.

My distant cousin, Dennis Kulas put me in touch with Isabel when she was 104 when I was looking for answers about my family tree. I told her my name and asked her if she knew any Derdowski's from Mellen, WI. She named all of my great-grandfather's children from oldest to youngest in a flash. She then told me stories of my grandfather from the 1920's that we had never known of in our family.
I printed out photographs of my grandfather and his siblings and sent them to her at the rest home. Some weeks later, a care-nurse who worked with Isabel told me she would wake up and touch the faces on the pictures as they rekindled her memory.
It was a pleasure for me to know those pictures had such an effect on her.

The former Parkins girls, Marian, Carole and Shirley send heartfelt thoughts to Dale's family. Our many trips back to our good old home-town of Hoople were made more enjoyable seeing Dale. We thought of him as a brother for all our family loved him. May his soul rest in Peace and we'll see you again in heaven.

I am so sorry. I recall all of the years that I visitied your farm while you raised potatoes. Often, if you we not home, Mary would greet me. She was such a nice person. I hope that I can give you comfort by saying Mary and yourself will always be considered dear friends.

Dear Arthur and Jan,
I read of your mom's death in a Christmas card that Aunt Hilda (Bowe) received. I've often thought of you and your parents and wondered how you were doing. I knew your dad was gone, but your mom had called me several years ago after my dad died (April 2005). It was very touching to hear her voice... I had sent her a Christmas card, letter and family picture the next year, but it was returned unopened about a month later. We didn't see each other often, but when we did we certainly enjoyed each other's company. I have wonderful memories of your mom and her family. I know my mom and dad surely loved her also. She was a great lady. I hope you can find comfort in the promises of our Lord knowing she is safely home in His arms. I'm sure this will leave a big hole in your life, but I always try to think of the death of a Christian as a very blessed time...a time to reminisce and be thankful for God's gift of Life. It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to you. Mary was always such a bright spot in our lives on 6th floor at Altru. I was deeply saddened when I heard of her passing. Having worked and spent many overnight hours with Mary while she was in the hospital, I know her love for Christ Jesus was strong and she is in a much better place and that she is sharing her talents in heaven and watching over those that she loved here. She was so looking forward to going to CA this winter...now she is there in spirit and without pain, and sickness. God be with you to heal your aching hearts and souls while you get through this difficult time.
