In Memory Of: Julian Bjornson
Comments: Dear Nadya and family,
Julian and I were classmates at Mayville. Our times together over the years were few and far between. Even though we did not physically see each other often I felt, for some reason, our friendship was as close as it was at our last meeting. Recently we got back together and I was hopeful that in our old age we would be able to spend more time together. I liked everything about Julian. I respected him in so many ways. He was a winner in the things in life that mattered. Everything he did he did well. How I wish we had spent more time together and not let it slip by and realize too late that the future is not certain and that we should do the things that matter now while we can still do them. I loved being with Julian and Nadya. It is my hope that those of you who are closer will comfort her during these difficult times. I will do what I can from a distance and I will remember her and the family in my prayers. Julian had those old fashioned values that seem to be missing in so many people these days. I will miss him. Comments: Nadya and boys,
I worked in the Grafton and Upper Valley systems for 10 years. Julian and I established a comfortable/friendly working relationship during that time. Julian approved my exchange to Russia in 1995 and visited my home when I hosted the Russian educator (Irina) while she was here in 1999. Julian was a thoughtful person. He cared about people and tried to do the right things for them.
May your memories carry Julian in your hearts forever.

Comments: Dear Bjornson Family Members,
I am so sorry to hear of Julian's death. He was a man of great intelligence and integrity, and one who never shirked his responsibilities. He is in good hands, the same hands that hold all of us, "I will never forget you, I hold you in the palm of my Hands." May the good memories and the support and concern of family and friends bring you comfort.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Wagner Goulet, now of Bismarck, formerly of Grafton

I want to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. Julian was a good and kind man. He always demonstrated his caring and concern for those around him. Julian's integrity and compassion served as an example for all that knew him. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him and truly blessed to have known him as a friend. As painful as this time is for you, be comforted by the warm thoughts of your friends and know that memories of Julian will always bring a warm feeling to our hearts and a smile to our faces.

Comments: I am very sorry to hear of Julian's passing. I was band director in the Grafton Schools from 1982-1994. While sometimes we didn't see eye to eye on music education, he allowed the Grafton Bands to flourish and I think he was proud of the bands. We traveled to The Washington D.C. "Cherry Blossom Parade"-twice, Disney World and the Portand Oregon "Festival of Roses". I motto-ed my whole teaching career from words he often said to his teachers: BE FIRM,FAIR AND FRIENDLY..........Words I have found much success in teaching the past 25 years.
I currently teach band at South High Campus 2 and will remember Julian for his commitment to education. I also was one of his students in Economics class as a student at GHS. I fondly remember what a great teacher he was and wished he could have stayed in the class room. Most people thought he had thick skin and could take the Superintendantship's flack, I saw a man that had to put on a coat of armour for the job, as I knew what a soft heart he had underneath............
My condolences to both Bjornson boys, Adam and Bart, who were in my bands from 5th through 12th Grades. John Pederson

Comments: I am so saddened to hear of Julian's death. What a kind person he was! I have so many High School memories of Julian and also professional memories. I always felt, even when we were in High School, that he was meant to do 'great things' and he did. May he now rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
