First I want to thank God for letting me be part of your family, I will always have the best memories, that as a child, or young adult, and into my adult life. I pray that you are happy with the love of your life Vera. I know how special she was to you. And when I pass on I know I will be welcome to visit with you and Vera as always. We will do everything in our power to take good care of Mom and Elmer. I love you and will miss you. Till we meet again.

What a grand man for a husband, a father and brother. Soft spoken yet strong; kind of heart and gentle in demeanor; loving and thoughtful. It wasn't always easy to draw him into conversation because of his shyness but I felt I had some very good talks with him over the years. I would think he believed he lived 83 grand years surrounded by loving family all that time--a richness of life to be admired by anyone. I am sorry I cannot make it to the funeral but my wife and his niece, LaRae, will be there to represent us while I represent our family at another matter.

Dear Britt & David & family,
Britt, you and Harlan were some of the first folks I met in Walsh county Farmers Union. I cherish all of the bus trips we have made together. So glad Harlan could join us on the last legislative trip this Spring too. We'll surely miss his smiles.
David, how I wish I could be at the celebration of your Dad's life on Friday. I know the memories will flood the church with warmth and love. I have the Jr. Campers at camp this week; and a ND State Fair meeting on Friday in Minot unfortunately.
Please call me if your family gets to Devils Lake so we can visit.

My sincere sympathy to your family on the loss of your son, Bill, and also the loss of my former classmate in high school, class of '47, Bud.
Although I never met your son, the Grand Forks Herald reports that he was a warm and wonderful man. I can also vouch for Bud . We often sat near each other in many classes and had lots of good laughs and talks.
It is always so sad to lose a family member, but with faith in our Savior, we know that we shall see them again.

Bud was a big part of Joe's life and our children's. When I called my daughters to tell them of his passing, they had wonderful warm memories of Bud and Dorothy at the skating rink. He was truly a good citizen and thoughtful man.

Just seen on the internet that you mother passed away.... She was a wonderful lady... they were such nice people to rent from in the 1960's, first place we lived.... your mom and I had many a conservation together, also, when we moved only a house away from her the last twelve years we were in Grafton... You will have beautiful memories of her.... Always hard to lose a mother.... Our sympathies are with you and your family...

I knew Jarl while I worked in Grand Forks for Community Bank. When stopping in to check on things he would stop in to check on me as well. I have many fond memories of Jarl, he loved talking about the Twins as much as I did. My deepest condolences to you all. He was a lovely man and will be greatly missed.
